It's my belief that when you're insanely busy and life is throwing a gazillion curve-balls in your direction, the best way to deal with it is take on even more things to do.    Currently I am trying to organise some big projects at work, I'm throwing myself into blogging again, I'm submitting my MS for the first time in four years and writing like a demented person.  And as for my personal life... let's not even go there...  I'll just say, it isn't pretty!  So I felt the best thing to do under all the current pressures was to start up a new Podcast :)

When I stopped Podcasting a few months ago, it did make me take stock and think of all the free time I'd have to sink into other projects.  And I guess I did.  I've written something I'm more proud of than anything I've done before.   I shortlisted the Scottish Children's Book Awards this year and made a very nervous speech!  I hung out at the Edinburgh Book Festival with a fervour that was close to obsession.  But there was something missing...

I missed Podcasting!

I always did it for the love of it.  The buzz of being in conversation with clever people both on air and in the chatroom.  The opportunity to be bloody minded and opinionated and to be shouted down that you're wrong.  And to be honest, I have never laughed as long or as heartily as I did on these shows.  The term pissing myself laughing is SO true!  (especially with the amount of wine consumed :))

So my friend Cath Murphy and I devised a cunning plan.  And The Scribatious Podcast - the very first (and probably only) naked Literary Podcast - will launch on the 29th September at 8pm GMT.  We will be in what is termed "Beta" for a while... frankly I think beta is just one of those buzz words to hide the fact that it's a bit shit... so we'll just call it practising shall we?  (TBH  I think our shitness might be a whole lot hilarious :))  It'll take us a while to work out what all the knobs and buttons do (but cut us some slack,  I've been out with blokes who've never worked that out... )

We'll be talking about books and writing and all aspects of the literary world.  We'll be a bit serious sometimes but mostly we'll be laughing, a lot.  Because books are actually fun!  Clothes are optional, but it would be fabulous if we all threw caution to the wind and hung out as nature intended.  No-one will judge...   And who knows, at the end of the night maybe we'll all throw our dongles in the hat  :)

If you want to listen in then follow us on Twitter @Scribatious or like us on Facebook and we'll let you know all the details.

oooOOooo

Today I am mostly reading Ashes by Ilsa Bick... and holy shit it's terrifying!

And I am hitting Repeat like  a mad woman on this...
